Functions:
Rheology Modifier
Chemical Family:
Urea & Urea Derivatives, Urethanes
End Uses:
Leather Coating, Solventborne Coating, Textile Coating
Labeling Claims:

Physical Form:
Liquid
CRAYVALLAC® LA-250 is a modified urea dissolved in DMSO and is a pourable liquid rheology modifier for post addition to low polarity solvent based coatings. CRAYVALLAC® LA-250 should be added to the coating as a slow stream under low to medium shear conditions to ensure sufficient dispersion. Although efficient stirring is required to ensure homogeneity, elevated temperatures are not required for activation and the use of excessive shear should be avoided.

CRAYVALLAC® LA-150
Principal:
Arkema Rheology and Specialty Additives Group
Functions:
Rheology Modifier
Chemical Family:
Urea & Urea Derivatives, Urethanes
End Uses:
Leather Coating, Solventborne Coating, Textile Coating
Labeling Claims:
Alkylphenol Ethoxylate (APEO)-free, No Added Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEO)
Physical Form:
Liquid
CRAYVALLAC® LA-150 is a new pourable liquid rheology modifier supplied in Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) for post addition to solvent based systems.CRAYVALLAC® LA-150 is a post-addition rheology modifier composed of a modified urea dissolved in DMSO. When added to the final system, the DMSO is diluted and the modified urea crystallizes out as very fine fibres which build into a three-dimensional interacting network. It is this network that gives rise to the system’s shear thinning rheology and time dependent viscosity recovery. The result is excellent control of sedimentation combined with ease of application. Immediately following application, where low shear conditions again predominate, the system’s viscosity undergoes a time dependent recovery as the network re-establishes itself. This time dependency is known as thixotropy and enables the final system to attain very good levelling.

CRAYVALLAC® SF
Principal:
Arkema Rheology and Specialty Additives Group
Functions:
Rheology Modifier, Rheology Modifier
Chemical Family:
Castor Oil Derivatives
End Uses:
Electronics
Labeling Claims:
Bio-based, Heavy Metal-free, No Added Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEO), Not Listed In California Proposition 65, Solvent-free
Features:
Anti-Settling, Brushability, Easy Handling, Good Leveling, High Gloss, High Shear Thinning, Highly Thixotropic, Improved Edge Coverage, Low Shear Contribution, Rollability, Syneresis Resistance, Transparency, Viscosity Stability
Physical Form:
Powder
CRAYVALLAC® SF is a proprietary amide-modified hydrogenated castor oil rheology modifier with an enhanced tolerance to temperature and solvent strength suitable for a variety of different solvent-based systems e.g. aromatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbon/alcohol blends. Compared to other hydrogenated castor oil based rheology modifiers, CRAYVALLAC® SF is more tolerant to strong solvents and high processing temperatures due to the presence of its unique performance enhancing amide. The activation process constitutes the conversion of the CRAYVALLAC® SF particles to an interacting network of fibre-like particles. It is this network that gives rise to the final coating’s shear thinning rheology. This shear thinning characteristic provides a very high viscosity under the low shear rates associated with sedimentation, and a low viscosity at the much higher application shear rates. The net result is excellent control of sedimentation combined with ease of application.
