Product Applications
  • Biochek® 8064 is intended to be used as a preservative for particularly plasticized PVC, but is suitable for further polymers, e.g. polyurethanes, too. It protects the polymer compound or articles made hereof from fungal infestation leading to discoloration and detrimental change in mechanical properties. Moreover, Biochek® 8064 protects the polymer compound against undesirable discoloration due to the infestation with certain bacteria.
  • Prior to use of the product it is strongly recommended to homogenize the contents of the container, e.g. by stirring.
  • Within the dry blend process Biochek® 8064 is preferably added simultaneously with the main plasticizer used. Alternatively, a premix of plasticizer and Biochek® 8064 can be prepared. In the plastisol process the simultaneous addition of Biochek® 8064 and the main plasticizer or the incorporation into the already prepared plastisol as a final addition is possible.
  • The required level of addition of Biochek® 8064 depends especially on the exposure of the plasticized PVC compound or article to moisture, organic deposition, UV irradiation and microbiological micro environment and has to be found effective at 0.35 % - 0.70 % (w/w) with respect to the final compound.
