Key Properties

When added to thermoplastic resin systems at 0.1% to 1%, improved processing and flow of the resin is expected, including less extruder torque, less extruder die pressure, faster throughput, reduction of melt viscosity and better mold filling. At higher addition levels of GENIOPLAST® GUM, 1% to 5%, also improved surface properties are expected, including release, lubricity, slip, improved surface gloss, lower coefficient of friction, and greater mar and abrasion resistance. GENIOPLAST® GUM can also improve burning characteristics of thermoplastic resins, especially when applied in combination with halogen-free flame retardant fillers. GENIOPLAST® GUM is expected to give improved benefits compared to conventional lower molecular weight siloxane additives, e.g. less screw slippage, improved release, a lower coefficient of friction, fewer paint and printing problems, and a broader range of performance capabilities.
