- Product Benefits
- STADEX® 201 is a waxy based canary dextrin that economically replaces potato and tapioca dextrins in the high solids, and remoistenable adhesives used in flat gumming.
- Because it is light in color, has low paste viscosities and shows exceptional stability to viscosity shifts during storage, STADEX® 201 is especially well suited for stamp, envelope and label adhesives.
- STADEX® 201 can also be used to replace potato dextrin in dextrin-stabilized polyvinyl acetate resins.
The most important properties of dextrins as compared to unmodified starch are:
- Increased water solubility
- Increased viscosity stability
- Reduced paste viscosity

- Product Applications
- STADEX® 201 are well suited for remoistenable adhesives used in flat gumming and in stamp, envelope and label adhesives.
- These dextrins economically replace potato and tapioca dextrins.
- They are light yellow to light beige in color, have low paste viscosities and are exceptionally stable to viscosity setback during storage.
- Application Information
- In preparing adhesives, mix STADEX® 201 into cold water along with other materials.
- When the mixture is smooth and lump free, heat to 180°F and hold for 30 minutes.
- Cool to application temperature, check solids and make any volume adjustments with cold water.
- Good agitation is necessary throughout preparation.
- Cooking time and temperature may be adjusted to meet requirements of the application.

- Other Hazards
- May form combustible dust concentrations in air. Possibility of dust explosion. it is recommended that all dust control equipment and material transport systems involved are engineered to prevent conditions contributing to dust explosions. Do not allow dust to accumulate on flat surfaces, on rafters or building structural components. Keep away from all ignition sources including heat, sparks and flame.
