MAINCOTE™ 36 Emulsion is an aqueous hydrophobic acrylic copolymer that can be used as an anti-corrosive primer for metal substrates. Primers based on MAINCOTE™ 36 Emulsion have excellent adhesion to most metal substrates, including carbon steel, aluminum, and galvanized steel. MAINCOTE™ 36 Emulsion also has excellent water resistance and good corrosion resistance making it a good primer choice for industrial maintenance, DIY metal primers, and is also suitable for shop applications on structural steel where adhesion, water, and corrosion resistance are key requirements.

It offers excellent exterior durability and corrosion resistance, and ease of formulation with excellent paint stability. MAINCOTE™ 5045C Emulsion is an aqueous acrylic emulsion polymer based on AVANSETM Acrylic Resin Technology. It facilitates the formulation of coatings to less than or equal to 25 g/L VOC for use in light to medium duty industrial maintenance and protective coatings applications. It offers excellent UV durability, corrosion resistance, block resistance, and ease of formulation with excellent paint stability. It can be formulated into highly durable topcoats and high gloss direct-to-metal (DTM) finish coats. When formulated at 25 g/L VOC or below, MAINCOTE™ 5045C Emulsion offers improvements in these properties versus many current DTM finishes formulated at higher VOC levels of 100 g/L and above. The low coalescent demand of MAINCOTE™ 5045C Emulsion allows compliance with stringent VOC regulations. MAINCOTE™ 5045C contains no intentionally added APEO (alkylphenol ethoxylate) surfactants and no intentionally added PFAS.

MAINCOTE™ EC-11 is an acrylic polymer recommended for use in elastomeric coatings for industrial maintenance applications on both metal and cementitious substrates. When formulated as an anti-corrosive coating, MAINCOTE™ EC-11 Acrylic Emulsion can be applied to both clean and marginally-prepared rusty steel, and imparts excellent corrosion resistance, adhesion, low temperature flexibility and dirt pickup resistance. When applied to concrete surfaces, MAINCOTE™ EC-11 Acrylic Emulsion provides excellent resistance to blistering and the stresses imparted by thermal cycling. It is especially useful in applications where prevention of spalling and scaling of the concrete surface, caused by exposure to water and deicing chemicals, is required. The proper formulation and elastomeric nature of MAINCOTE™ EC-11 Acrylic Emulsion facilitates the production of coatings with excellent flexibility, very low VOC levels (< 50 g/L), and the ability to be applied in thick films (e.g., 10-20 mils dry) without sagging or mudcracking.

MAINCOTE™ PR-71 is used for all protective coating applications, the first need is for adhesion to and passivation of the substrate. In the past, difficult-to-adhere-to substrates were often treated with a vinyl wash primer to passivate the substrate and provide adhesion for subsequent coats. These vinyl wash primers are increasingly difficult to use as they are very low in solids, high in VOC, and contain toxic pigments. In contrast, MAINCOTE™ PR-71 Waterborne Acrylic Resin allows the coatings manufacturer to supply primers that not only adhere to difficult metallic substrates, but also give good corrosion resistance over carbon steel. This resin's ability to be topcoated by most solvent-based coating systems makes it a very versatile water-based primer.
