Key Properties

When added to thermoplastic polymer systems at 0.5 % to 2 %, processing and flow of the resin is improved, including less extruder torque, less extruder die pressure and faster throughput. The surface quality of extruded parts is also improved. GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 is odorless. In contrary to amides and other fatty acids typically used during compounding of filled thermoplastics GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 does not migrate due to its high molecular weight. At the recommended use levels (0.5 - 2 %) GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 does not negatively impact the thermo-mechanical properties of the compounds it is added to. Due to it’s specific effect the processing temperature of the polyolefin compound can be lowered slightly. Water uptake of compounds utilizing hydrophilic fillers is reduced by using GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08.

Processing Information

GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 should be used as a compounding additive. Typical usage level is between 0.5 – 2 %. It’s recommended to use about 1 % (w/w). The pellets should be used in standard extrusion equipment similar to standard thermoplastic pellets. Suitable equipment for compounding comprises twin-screw extruders, co-kneaders, and batchmixers. For the compounding process, GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 can be added at the feeding zone of the extruder either as pre-mix together with resin polymer pellets or via a separate feeding unit; it can also be added via side-feeder. Removal of the GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 from extrusion equipment is easily done by purging with standard, non- additivated polyolefins like PP. Long term processing temperatures above 230°C are not recommended using GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08. GENIOPLAST® PP 20A08 is compatible with all PP grades, pigments, as well as fillers such as wood fibers, talc or calcium carbonate.
