Stabaxol® KE 7646

Stabaxol® KE 7646 is a polycarbodiimide-masterbatch; carrier polymer: polyethyleneterephthalate (PET). It functions as antihydrolysis agent for thermoplastic polyesters, especially for PET. Stabaxol® KE 7646 can be used in PET-monofilaments for dryer-conveyor belts in paper making machines where it assists to multiply the service life time. For example by as much as three times after accelerated aging in saturated steam (121 °C/250 °F).

Principal: LANXESS PAB

Functions: Anti-hydrolysis Agent

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Polyamide 6 (PA 6), Polyamide 66 (PA 66), Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Polylactic Acid (PLA), Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer (TPE-E), Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)

    Processing Information

Processing guidelines: Stabaxol® KE 7646 is delivered in a ready-to-process condition (moisture content < 0.03 wt%). For achieving a lower moisture content, e.g. for monofilament extrusion (moisture content < 0.005 wt%), pre-drying in a dry-air dryer at a temperature of 120 °C (248 °F) is most suitable. The drying time depends on the drying system and the required residual moisture content. In general, it is 2 to 4 hours. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures results in diskoloring and decomposition of the product.

Equipment: Stabaxol® KE 7646 can be processed on regular extruders/injection molding machines suitable for polyesters. Additionally needed equipment see material safety data sheet handling precautions. At processing temperatures, traces of volatile matters can escape, which have a temporary irritant effect on the skin, eyes and respiratory tracts. Adequate local ventilation should be provided at all places where Stabaxol® KE 7646 containing products are exposed to temperatures of 200 °C (392 °F) or more. Direct contact with vapors formed by hot Stabaxol® KE 7646 must be avoided.

    Formulation Recommendations

Depending on residual COOH-No. and the moisture content of the polyester, a Stabaxol® P 100 content of 1.5 to 2.5 wt% is recommended. The corresponding let-down rate is 1 part Stabaxol® KE 7646 in 5 to 9 parts polyester. However, the most suitable concentration should always be ascertained in preliminary trials. Stabaxol® KE 7646 is preferably added in a separate stream or dry blended with the polyester to feed the main stream.
