Additin® RC 8220 is a single-ingredient benzotriazole-based corrosion inhibitor used in gear oils, greases, hydraulic oils, metalworking fluids, and turbine & compressor fluids. It is also suitable for applications in cooling and heating circuits, slideway oils, and industrial oils. Additionally, it is used in home care products such as acid cleaners, automatic dishwashing detergents, and metal polishes. It offers excellent corrosion inhibition in various fluid applications and industrial additives.

Additin® RC 8221 protects primarily copper and cobalt, including their alloys, as well as nickel from corrosion, forming an extremely thin, stable and virtually colorless film on the metal surface by chemisorption. The formation of copper ions in formulations, e.g. cooling or heat transfer fluids, are prevented and consequently the copper ion catalyzed oxidation or degradation reactions are avoided. The durability of products such as lubricoolants, antifreezes, hydraulic fluids, oil-based media and rubber is improved.
