Product Applications
  • Biochek® BIT 20 is an aqueous / glycolic preparation of the active ingredient benzisothiazolinone providing a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, mold and yeasts.
  • Biochek® BIT 20 penetrates the cells of microrganisms, reacts with vital parts of the cells and inactivates important substrates and enzymes necessary to normal cell function. These reactions exhibit a biocidal effect and minimize adaption or the development of microbial resitance.
  • Biochek® BIT 20 has a pale yellow to amber color, which is particularly advantageous for applications in which the risk of discoloration must be ruled out.
  • Biochek® BIT 20 has good water solubility enabling smooth and easy incorporation into the material to be preserved. See the recommended concentrates below.
  • Biochek® BIT 20 can be used over a wide pH and temperature range (up to pH 14 and 175 °F / 80 °C) and thus permits broad and flexible use.
  • Biochek® BIT 20 can be added at an early phase of the production process enabling the positive effects on process hygiene right from the start. In this context, even if subsequent heating takes place, the low volatility and good thermal stability of benzisothiazolinone generally mitigates loss of the active ingredient. To obtain reliable and reproducible results, homogeneous distribution in the materials to be protected must be ensured by taking suitable measures in production (stirring, agitating, etc.). As with any product, use of the products mentioned in this publication in a given application must be tested (including field testing, etc.) by the user in advance to determine suitability.
