Dynasylan® IBTMO is regarded as trifunctional since all three alkoxy groups are able to hydrolyze. Additionally Dynasylan® IBTMO contains an isobutyl group that adds organic character to the products. Hydrolysis leads to silanol groups which, in a subsequent condensation reaction, form very stable siloxane bonds (ÂSiÂOÂSiÂ). Condensation occurs parallel to hydrolysis once a certain amount of silanol groups have been formed. The absolute and relative rates of hydrolysis and condensation depend on a number of factors. The most important factors include pH, concentration, solvent, temperature and the catalyst.

Dynasylan® 1146 diaminofunctional silane may be used in coatings, adhesives, and sealants to improve the adhesion of aminoÂreactive resins. These are resins such as silicones (RTV), twoÂpart urethanes, silylated urethanes, MS polymers, and twoÂpart epoxies to inorganic surfaces, plastic surfaces, and inorganic fillers. Dynasylan® 1146 silane is characterized by randomlyÂdistributed linear and cyclic oligosiloxanes and fullfills the OECD polymer definition. Its low volatility and viscosity make compounding easy. Dynasylan® 1146 silane produces significantly less by- product (VOC) and has a correspondingly low odor level during application.

Protectosil® WB CONCENTRATE is a clear, penetrating, breathable water repellent for use on brick, concrete masonry units and some natural stones. A 100% concentrated alkyltrialkoxysilane which is intended to be diluted with water and provides the high performance traditionally associated with alcohol carried systems. Prevents water and waterborne contaminants from entering the sub- strate and causing premature deterioration. Protectosil® WB CONCENTRATE is especially suited for imparling water repellency to substrates such as brick masonry and split-face block. By preventing water and waterborne contaminants from entering the substrate, Protectosil® WB CONCENTRATE reduces such problems as efflorescence, leaching, acid rain deterioration, scaling, dirt buildup, staining and corrosion of reinforcing steel. Treated surfaces are fully breathable because the natural moisture vapor transmission is not affected. This will eliminate problems caused by entrapped moisture, including blushing of the sealer and freeze-thaw damage to the masonry.
