- Product Applications
- Especially suited as water repellent for low-fired clay
- Products (e.G. Roofing tiles, common brick, floor tiles, terracotta) as well as various natural stones, sandstones and gypsum
- Consolidation and hydrophobation of mineral construction materials and sand
- Protects brickwork from rising damp
- Suitable for the restoration of natural stone
- Supplied as concentrate: to be diluted with water up to 1:100
- High penetration depth and fast curing
- Excellent long-lasting beading effect even at very high dilutions
- Generates water-vapour permeable, colourless treatment
- Excellent reduction of water uptake and soluble salts (e.G. Chlorides)
- Significantly reduces the formation of white deposits on treated surfaces
- Resistant against alkaline environment
- Suitable as binder for silicate-based paints
- Protectosil® ws 808 is intended for waterproofing of mineral substrates, in particular roofing tiles and common brick. When diluting protectosil* ws 808 the product must be added into water under vigorous stirring. The recommended dilution rate ranges from 1:10 - 1:100, the ideal dilution rate for best performance depends on the mineral substrate.
- The amount to be applied depends to a large extent on how absorbent the substrate is and should be tested in advance. For the treatment of common brick a dilution rate of 1:20 is generally recommended at a consumption rate of appr. 0,3 - 0,4 I/m².
- Protectosil® ws 808 should only be applied on fully cured substrates. Protectosil" ws 808 can be applied on new and old substrates. Performance tests should be conducted 14 days after application.
- The surfaces to be treated should be air-dry and clean in order to ensure deep penetration. Dust, grease, oil, overgrowth, etc. Have to be cleaned off before treatment. Surface cleaning methods include suitable sandblasting, water blasting or washing and chemical cleaning. Best performance is achieved on a dry surface. During application the temperature of the substrate should be within the range of +4 to +40 °c. Protect against rain after application for at least 4 hours.
- Protectosil® ws 808 is best applied by dipping the substrate into the solution of the product or by using low pressure pumping equipment with a wet fan type spray nozzle. The time allowed for dipping depends on how absorbent the substrate is. Contact times can range from 5s up to several minutes. All equipment and containers must be clean and dry. After use they can be cleaned with tap water.
- It is recommended to cover all substrates that are sensitive towards alkaline material. Substrates such as glass, wood, plastic and metal cannot be treated with protectosil® ws 808. The formation of white deposits on these surfaces will be observed. Plants in the vicinity of the application area should be protected. Protectosil' ws 808 should be applied in a well-vented environment. The treated product should not be covered in an air-tight plastic foil immediately after application. The treatment of pigmented surfaces with dilutions of protectosil® ws 808 should be evaluated in advance. Generally, it is recommended to apply the diluted product on a small test patch first for a compatibility check.
