EBECRYL® 350
Principal:
allnex Radcure
Chemical Family:
Acrylics & Acrylates
Compatible Substrates & Surfaces:
Metal, Paper, Plastics
End Uses:
Clearcoat, Radiation Curable Coating, Release Coating
Features:
Blocking Resistance, Good Compatibility, High Gloss, Improved Slip, Improved Substrate Wetting, Improves Flow, Improves Leveling, Low Coefficient of Friction, Low Surface Tension, Low Viscosity, Mar Resistance, Non-migrating, Tack-free
EBECRYL® 350 is a silicone diacrylate that improves slip, substrate wetting, and coating flow and leveling when used as an additive in formulations cured by ultraviolet light (UV) or electron beam (EB). Cured films containing EBECRYL® 350 will exhibit a smooth, tack free surface, with good blocking resistance. Because of its acrylate functionality, the silicone cures into the polymeric backbone, thus eliminating the migration that free silicones often display in coatings.

RHOPLEX® CL-106
Principal:
Dow Coating Materials
Chemical Family:
Acrylics & Acrylates
End Uses:
Lacquers, Sealer, Top Coat
Compatible Substrates & Surfaces:
Wood
Features:
Excellent Film Clarity, Excellent Sandability , Good Hardness, Good Wetting, High Clarity, Mar Resistance, Stain Resistance, Yellowing Resistance
RHOPLEX® CL-106 acrylic emulsion has been designed for use in factory-applied clear topcoats for wood requiring the highest levels of appearance and surface hardness characteristics. Lacquers based on RHOPLEX® CL-106 acrylic emulsion are translucent in the can and upon application turn clear very rapidly while drying. RHOPLEX® CL-106 acrylic emulsion was developed for use in topcoat finishes and as such does not provide optimum appearance qualities if used as a sealer. In multi-coat systems, the finest overall appearance is obtained when RHOPLEX® CL-106 acrylic emulsion is used over specialized sealer formulations. It is recommended that RHOPLEX® CL-106 acrylic emulsion be used over sealers formulated from RHOPLEX® CL-105 emulsion. In this manner, RHOPLEX® CL-105 emulsion contributes excellent wood fiber wetting, appearance characteristics, and early sandability to the system while RHOPLEX® CL-106 emulsion provides a topcoat with hardness, mar resistance, and clarity. The volatile organic content (VOC) of typically formulated clear topcoat lacquers is less than 2.3 lb/gal and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) are 0.3 lb HAPs/lb solids.

Dynasylan® MTES
Principal:
Evonik Corporation Silanes
Functions:
Surface Modifier
Labeling Claims:
Conflict Minerals-free
Features:
Low Viscosity, Mar Resistance, UV Resistance
Dynasylan® MTES, an alkyltrialkoxysilane is an important component in solgel systems. Dynasylan® MTES is a colorless, lowviscosity liquid. Use requires acid or alkalicatalysed hydrolysis. Dynasylan® MTES is regarded as trifunctional since all three alkoxy groups are able to participate in this reaction. Additionally Dynasylan® MTES contains a methyl group that adds organic character to the products. Hydrolysis leads to silanol groups which, in a subsequent condensation reaction, form very stable siloxane bonds (SiOSi). Condensation occurs parallel to hydrolysis once a certain amount of silanol groups have been formed. The absolute and relative rates of hydrolysis and condensation depends on a number of factors. The most important factors include pH, concentration, solvent, temperature and the catalyst.
