Additin® RC 2516

Additin® RC 2516 is a deactivated, medium active, light colored, low odor, high viscosity sulfur carrier with good solubility even in nonpolar base oils. Due to its excellent polarity and lubricity in combination with a controlled sulfur activity, it is particularly suited for manufacturing metalworking fluids for medium to heavy duty stamping, fine blanking and metal forming processes. The low copper corrosivity makes it also suitable for machining yellow metal alloys. It is also highly recommended for the formulation of EP greases, slideway oils and industrial gear oils.

Properties

Technical Details & Test Data

Technical Data
  • In order to improve the overall performance of the EP grease or slideway oil formulation the addition of antioxidants such as Additin RC 7110® and/or Additin® RC 7135 with anticorrosion additives, e.g. Additin® RC 4220, is recommended.
  • The performance of metalworking fluids containing Additin® RC 2516 can even be increased by combinations with sulfurized olefins like Additin® RC 2540, zinc dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin® RC 3038, phosphoric acid partial esters or ashless phosphorus-sulfur additives like Additin® RC 3890.
  • Additin®RC 2516 is easily emulsifiable and a well-suited EP additive for soluble oils and semisynthetic metalworking fluids.
  • Additin® RC 2516 is EU Ecolabel (EEL) approved with a maximum treat rate up to 10%, depending on application.
