Key Properties

In a typical PP compound formulation for automotive interior parts (PP copolymer, 20 % talc, impact modified, UV stabilized, black) GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 is used at a loading between 1 and 3 %. Main benefits for polypropylene applications in automotive comprise improvement of scratch and mar performance, reduction of coefficient of friction, improvement of surface aspects (soft touch, not sticky, not blooming). GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 is odorless and not contributing to fogging. In contrary to amides and other fatty acids used in the past, GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 does not migrate and bloom outside the interior part and therefore not contribute to fogging and to stickiness. At the recommended use levels (1 - 3 %), GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 does not negatively impact the thermo-mechanical properties of the compounds it is added to.

Processing Information
  • Polypropylene based compounds for dashboards, door trim and trunk trim panels, pillar trim, and center consoles.
  • GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 is a compounding additive. Compounding is required to achieve the proper rheology for the migration of the silicone constituent to the surface during the melt phase. After processing and when the part has cooled, the ultra-high molecular weight silicone constituent is fixed inside the PP compound and also at the surface, assuring stable performance over time. GENIOPLAST® PP50S12 is compatible with all PP grades (homopolymer or copolymer), pigments, as well as mineral fillers such as talc or calcium carbonate.
