Hostavin® 3050 liq.

Hostavin® 3050 liq is a low-molecular radical scavenger of the type hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) for solventless paints. For solventborne systems we recommend its solutions which are Hostavin® 3053 liquid or Hostavin® 3063 liquid, instead. The latter can also be used in waterborne coatings.

Additional Information

Hostavin® 3050 liq is characterized by its excellent solubility, broad compatibility, extremely low volatility and migration stability. It can either be added to the ready-to-use paint or incorporated during the paint production. However, as all UV stabilizers, it ought not to be added to the mill-base. Depending on the requested stabilization effect, the addition rate should be in the range of 1.0 to 3.0 %. All concentrations relate to active UV stabilizer on solid resin. Pre-trials, covering various concentrations, are highly recommended. As a non-substituted HALS, Hostavin® 3050 liq is slightly basic and because of this can have an influence on the crosslinking of binders. In such a case, the alternative use of Hostavin® 3050 liq is recommended. Since HALS is highly recommended for all outdoor durable coatings, the need for an additional UV absorber strictly depends on the UV transmittance of the final coating. Inorganically pigmented coatings with good hiding power do usually not require an additional UV absorber, clear coats certainly do.
