Hostavin® 3055 liq.

Hostavin® 3055 liq is a low-molecular radical scavenger of the type hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) for solventless and solventborne paints. On principle, it is also suitable in waterbome coatings. Hostavin® 3055 liq is characterized by its excellent solubility, broad compatibility, low volatility and good stabilization efficiency. It can either be added to the ready-to-use paint or incorporated during the paint production. However, as all UV stabilizers, it ought not to be added to the mill-base. Depending on the requested stabilization effect, the addition rate should be in the range of 1.0 to 3.0 %. All concentrations relate to active UV stabilizer on solid resin. Pre-trials, covering various concentrations, are highly recommended. As a non-substituted HALS, Hostavin 3055 liquid is slightly basic and because of this can have an influence on the crosslinking of binders. In such a case, the altemative use of Hostavin 3058 liquid is recommended. Since HALS is highly recommended for all outdoor durable coatings, the need for an additional UV absorber strictly depends on the UV transmittance of the final coating. Inorganically pigmented coatings with good hiding power do usually not require an additional UV absorber, clear coats certainly do.
