ACRYSOL™

ACRYSOL™ ASE-60 Alkali Soluble Anionic Thickener is an acid containing, acrylic emulsion copolymer. As such, when the emulsion is diluted with water and neutralized with a base, the polymer becomes soluble. Under these conditions, the emulsion clarifies and becomes highly viscous. ACRYSOL™ ASE-60 Thickener is effective at increasing low shear rate (Brookfield) viscosity, resulting in coatings that have highly shear thinning characteristics.

ACRYSOL™ ASE-75 Thickener is an acid containing, acrylic emulsion copolymer. When the emulsion is diluted with water and neutralized with a base, each emulsion particle swells greatly. The emulsion clarifies under these conditions and becomes highly viscous. ACRYSOL™ ASE-75 Thickener is effective in improving mid to low shear rate (Brookfield) viscosity, resulting in coatings that have highly shear thinning characteristics.

ACRYSOL™ DR-1 Thickener is a synthetic, liquid thickener that offers a low cost/high performance alternative to cellulosic thickeners in interior flat latex paints. ACRYSOL™ DR-1 Thickener provides application and feel properties very similar to medium grades of cellulosic and hydrophobically modified HEC thickeners with excellent resistance to roller spattering and improved leveling in most formulations. ACRYSOL™ DR-1 Thickener is easy to handle and incorporate during the paint manufacturing process and is highly resistant to microbial attack. ACRYSOL™ DR-1 Thickener is part of the Designed Rheology product line which provides customized rheology based on key components.

ACRYSOL™ DR-110 Rheology Modifier is effective at building viscosity in a wide range of water-borne coatings formulations, from flat to semigloss. It offers application and feel properties to coatings that is very similar to those of hydroxyethylcellulose thickeners, particularly the hydrophobically-modified type. Thus, it can provide a very cost-effective alternative to these cellulosic thickeners.

ACRYSOL™ DR-2 Rheology Modifier is a synthetic, liquid thickener that offers a low cost/high performance alternative to cellulosic thickeners in interior flat latex paints. ACRYSOL™ DR-2 Rheology Modifier offers application and feel properties very similar to medium grades of cellulosic thickeners. It also has outstanding spatter resistance. ACRYSOL™ DR-2 Rheology Modifier is easy to handle and incorporate into the paint and is formulated to resist microbial contamination.

ACRYSOL™ DR-300 associative thickener delivers effective shear-thinning rheology in coatings ranging from matt to semi-gloss, with a primary focus on exterior applications. The distinctive viscosity profile of this synthetic liquid thickener ensures sag resistance for higher film builds, all while maintaining the improved flow typical of associative thickeners. ACRYSOL™ DR-300 also provides good early water resistance to acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and vinyl-acrylic coatings, even on chalky or aged surfaces. As with all Designed Rheology products, ACRYSOL™ DR-300 is easily incorporated during the paint manufacturing process. A key benefit of ACRYSOL™ DR-300 is that it offers superior performance at a lower formulation cost compared to traditional cellulosic thickeners, owing to its enhanced thickening efficiency.

ACRYSOL™ DR-5500 is a new associative thickener that delivers the same performance as ACRYSOL RM-5, but without the use of APEO surfactants. ACRYSOL™ DR-5500 provides excellent gloss, film build, and flow in latex paints. Being both APEO-free and solvent-free, ACRYSOL™ DR-5500 is ideally suited to meet the latest regulatory requirements for waterborne paints and coatings. This product enhances high shear (ICI Cone and; Plate) viscosity, resulting in coatings with high film build characteristics, improving hiding and appearance. Additional benefits for manufacturers include minimal roller spatter and the full realization of gloss potential in latex paints. Since ACRYSOL™ DR-5500 uses hydrophobically-modified alkali-soluble chemistry, it offers a high degree of resistance to bacterial and enzymatic attack, ensuring long-term paint viscosity stability.

ACRYSOL™ DR-6600 Rheology Modifier offers the same performance as ACRYSOL RM-6, but without the use of APEO surfactants. ACRYSOL DR-6600 offers excellent gloss, film build and flow in latex paints. ACRYSOL DR-6600 is both APEO-free* and solventfree** and is thus well suited to meeting the latest regulatory requirements, under the proper conditions, for waterborne paints and coatings. ACRYSOL DR-6600 is effective in improving the high shear (ICI Cone and; Plate) viscosity, resulting in coatings that have high film build characteristics for improved hiding and appearance. Other benefits to the manufacturer include a virtual absence of roller spatter and the full realization of gloss potential for latex paints. Since ACRYSOL DR-6600 is of the hydrophobically-modified alkali-soluble chemistry it offers excellent long-term viscosity stability because it is inherently resistant to degradation through both enzymatic and bacterial routes.

ACRYSOL™ DR-73 Rheology Modifier is a synthetic liquid thickener that provides a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to cellulosic thickeners in interior flat latex paints. ACRYSOL™ DR-73 offers application and feel properties similar to medium-grade cellulosic thickeners and hydrophobically modified HEC thickeners, while increasing high shear viscosity for enhanced film build, brush drag, and hiding power. It also delivers outstanding spatter resistance. ACRYSOL™ DR-73 is easy to handle and incorporate into paint formulations, and it is designed to resist microbial contamination.

ACRYSOL™ I-62A Emulsion is an aqueous alkali-soluble acrylic copolymer which has broad utility as a dispersant for organic and inorganic pigments. As a pigment dispersant, it offers excellent dispersion for whites and a variety of deep-tone formulations. It is especially useful in formulations designed for thermosetting applications. It is a waterborne colloidal dispersion containing both carboxylic acid and hydroxyl functionality, and as such will crosslink with melamine-formaldehyde or urea-formaldehyde resins, thereby becoming part of the polymer matrix and improving the film properties.

ACRYSOL™ RM-12W Rheology Modifier is a solvent-free+, nonionic rheology modifier designed to offer high low-shear viscosity with an extremely shear thinning rheology and excellent thickening efficiency. Unlike conventional thickeners, ACRYSOL™ RM-12W Rheology Modifier offers excellent sag resistance with minimal effect on flow and leveling. While not capable of providing true thixotropy, it can offer advantages typical of thixotropes. These properties include improved brush/roller loading, good anti-drip properties, good in-can structure, and excellent flow/sag balance.

ACRYSOL™ RM-12WE Rheology Modifier is a nonionic rheology modifier designed to offer high low-shear viscosity with an extremely shear thinning rheology and excellent thickening efficiency. It offers a rheology profile similar to ACRYSOL™ RM-12WE Rheology Modifier but is prepared without intentionally adding tin compounds to the production process.
