BONDERITE® L-GP M 206

BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 is a lubricant additive designed to provide extreme pressure and anti-wear properties to water-based lubricant systems. It can be applied by several methods to form tightly adherent films on metal surfaces once it has been diluted with water to achieve the desired solids content. Consisting of specially refined molybdenum disulfide in water, BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) exhibits excellent resistance to settling. It does not promote highly acidic properties normally associated with conventional slurries of MoS2 powder and water.

Method of Use:

Dilution

  • BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) should be diluted with water before using. Dilution ratios will vary according to the particular use and method of application. In general, the most economical mixture which continues to give satisfactory performance should be employed.
  • Ratios as lean as 1:20 (1 part BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) to 20 parts water) can be expected to be effective in many operations. Deionized, demineralized, or distilled water is the preferred diluent and will ensure the most stable mixtures. The concentrate should be stirred thoroughly prior to mixing. Water may then be added slowly while constant agitation is provided.
  • Mixtures of BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) and water will satisfactorily coat clean metal surfaces up to 500°-700°F (260°-371°C); the addition of 3% "Triton X-100"* to the total mixture will facilitate wetting. In the 700°-1000°F (371°-538°C) range, 3% "Ucon Lubricant 75-H-1400"** is helpful.

Application:

Mixtures of BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) may be applied by spray, brush, dip, or swab, whichever is most convenient. Spray application generally produces the most satisfactory coating, however, and should be used whenever possible. Occasional agitation of diluted mixtures should be provided during use, particularly after standing overnight.

Safety Precautions

BONDERITE® L-GP M 206 ACHESON (known as MOLYDAG 206) should not be permitted to freeze as it will take on a granular appearance and settle rapidly. Container covers should be replaced tightly when not in use to prevent caking and subsequent contamination.
