- Application Advice
Dissolving:
- MCT5 is soluble in many organic solvents such as esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, and lower alcohols. By using water and either a fixed or fugitive alkali, an aqueous solution of MCT5 can be prepared. Solutions of solid content up to 50% can be made by incorporating a proportion of a lower alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, or isopropanol (IPA).
Melt:
- MCT5 is thermoplastic and will gradually soften and flow with increasing temperature.
- Heat activated coatings and adhesives can also be easily formulated, which show excellent adhesion to metal surfaces.
Compatibility:
- MCT5 is compatible with other M Grade polymers, and can be mixed in any proportion to modify either solution or dry film properties.
- MCT5 can be plasticized with many types of plasticizer to modify film properties.
Applications:
- Solvent-based adhesives, solvent-based inks & lamination adhesives, heat seal adhesives, alkali removable coatings, pigment dispersion, paper impregnation for automotive filters, hot stamping foils.

Storage & Handling
- Storage Conditions
- MCT5 is a thermoplastic solid. To prevent sticking of the polymer granules, the product should be stored in dry conditions, below +20°C (+68°F), out of direct sunlight.
- Pallets should not be stacked.
- Under these conditions, MCT5 has a storage life of at least 24 monthsfrom date of manufacture.
- MCT5 which has been stored for longer than 24 months should be tested before use.
