CYMEL® 325 is a new type of highly methylated melamine-formaldehyde resin which does not require strong acid catalyst for fast cure response. CYMEL® 325 is reactive with hydroxyl amide and carboxyl group containing polymers. The weight loss of CYMEL® 325 during the baking process is significantly less than that of partially methylated melamine-formaldehyde resins. The baking volatiles from CYMEL® 325 contain very low levels of formaldehyde. The lower weight loss of CYMEL® 325 crosslinked coatings also results in less tendency to blister at higher film thickness. CYMEL® 325 requires only weak acid catalysis for cure; a low acid number in the backbone resin is suffi- cient. The cure reaction additionally can be catalyzed with weak organic acids or inorganic acids such as maleic, citric, phosphoric or alkyl phosphoric acids, low levels of p-toluene sulfonic acid or CYCAT® 14040 catalyst. CYMEL® 325 will self-condense like a partially methylated resin. Higher film hardness may, therefore, be obtained by raising the level of amino crosslinking agent. The high reaction rate of CYMEL® 325 at lower temperature reduces the chance of evaporation of low molecular weight resin components. CYMEL® 325 should, therefore, be very suitable for applications where "smoking" of the baking exhaust is a problem. Compared to partially methylated melamine-formalde- hyde resins, CYMEL® 325has shown, in some water-reducible coatings, improved humidity and salt- spray resistance. CYMEL 325 resin is FDA approved under section 121.2514 and 121.2526.

Dynasylan® VPS 4721 is a bifunctional organosilane possessing a reactive organic epoxide and hydrolyzable inorganic methoxysilyl groups. The dual nature of its reactivity allows VPS 4721 to bind chemically to both inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (e.g. thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers), thus functioning as an adhesion promoter, crosslinking agent and/or surface modifier. Dynasylan® VPS 4721 is a colorless liquid. It is soluble in alcohols, ketones and aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons.

CYMEL® 1133 Resin is a highly methylated, n-butylated melamine crosslinker with a high degree of alkylation. It has a higher butoxymethyl content and higher monomer content compared to CYMEL® 1130 resin. Its hydrophobic nature combined with very good film appearance properties makes CYMEL® 1133 resin suitable for automotive topcoat applications and general metal finishes requiring improved durability and resistance properties.
