Product Applications
  • D.E.H.® 80 is a phenolic hardener designed for powder coating applications. It is fully compatible with epoxy resins and can be formulated into high gloss, good flow decorative or protective powder coatings. White or pastel shade formulations based on D.E.H.® 80 may exhibit a tendency toward yellowing when subjected to high baking temperatures or to over-bake.
  • The moderate reactivity of D.E.H.® 80 can be increased by substituting part of the hardener with either D.E.H. 81 or D.E.H. 82 Epoxy Curing Agent.
  • The curing accelerator present in D.E.H.® 80 tends to promote catalytic cross-linking of the epoxy resin during baking. For this reason, it is suggested that a 10% molar excess of epoxy resin over the hardener may be used when formulating with D.E.H.® 80 in order to produce cured coatings with optimum properties.
  • The performance of phenolic cured epoxy powder coating formulations and particularly their adhesion to metal substrates will be greatly affected by the quality of the surface preparation. Suitable pre-treatments such as blast cleaning are suggested.

Typical Applications:

  • Industrial Powder Coatings: General industrial and electrical, Furniture coatings.
