- Product Benefits
- The main applications for two-component coatings based on WANNATE® IT-170BS are automotive OEM and automotive refinishing.
- WANNATE® IT-170BS works as assistant resin in alkyd spray coating system for its high drying speed.
- This tendency to yellow is more pronounced at drying temperature above 80°C. It is recommended that forced drying be carried out below 80°C. This kind of coating is widely used in automotive refinish and industrial coatings.

Properties
- Physical Form
- Solubility Data
- WANNATE® IT-170BS can be thinned in polar solvents such as esters, ketones, and ether esters, e.g. butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, and methoxypropylacetate, as well as in aromatics.
- Generally speaking, it has good compatibility with the solvents listed.
- However, the solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability.
- Only PU grade solvents should be used (max. 0.05% water, absence of reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amino groups).
- WANNATE® IT-170BS can be thinned to stable solutions with a minimum solids content of 20% in xylene, toluene, naphtha 100, and aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures thereof.
- If prolonged storage stability of the thinned solutions is required, aliphatic hydrocarbons should not be added.
- Since WANNATE® IT-170BS has necessary compatibility with aliphatic, it can be added in coatings formulated with aliphatic solvents.

Storage & Handling
- Storage and Shelf Life Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
- Keep away from incompatible materials and foodstuff containers.
- Store in original containers.
- Keep containers securely sealed.
- No smoking, naked lights, or ignition sources.
- Protect containers against physical damage and check regularly for leaks.
- Avoid reaction with water, alcohols, and detergent solutions.
- Some isocyanates react with water to form amines and liberate carbon dioxide.
- This reaction may also generate large volumes of foam and heat.
- Foaming in confined spaces may produce pressure in confined spaces or containers.
- Isocyanates will attack and embrittle some plastics and rubbers.
- WANNATE® IT-170BS is sensitive to moisture and must be stored in tightly sealed container.
- It can be stored for 6 months at temperatures between 0 and 30 °C.
- The product is sensitive to moisture. Storage at higher temperatures will result in increase of color and viscosity. Storage at significant lower temperatures will result in solidification. This solidification is reversible by briefly heating the product without adversely affecting the quality of the product.
